The Shon Yee Benevolent Association’s 90th

VANCOUVER EVENT | The Shon Yee Benevolent Association, 90th Anniversary.

The Shon Yee Benevolent Association will celebrate its 90th anniversary Sunday afternoon with a Chinatown parade.

The parade will feature four to six traditional Chinese lions and a 30-metre dragon operated by about 40 dancers.

Begun with just 17 people, the Shon Yee Association now is a major philanthropic organization in Vancouver’s Chinese community. The association helps new immigrants, existing and new businesses, and seniors. The Shon Yee Association plays a major role in ensuring quality seniors housing in the Chinatown area.

The parade will begin at Gore Avenue and Pender Street. It will travel west to Carroll Street, south to Keefer, east to Gore again, and back north to Pender, between noon and 1:30 p.m.

This lavish parade is not to be missed.  –Jennifer Selk (More event listing baby journalism by Jen Selk can be found here.)
