Hey-o! Costume jewellery is happening now

SHOP NEWS | Costume jewellery is up! It’s all happening.

Well, I did it.

I listed three items.

Pierre Bex Brooch

Funky Pierre Bex brooch. Purdy, no?

It’s really happening, y’all. Will & Bequeath vintage is back up and running! (That is, as long as I programmed everything correctly and my PayPal account is working and nothing is wonky and my internet doesn’t go down, and, and and… sigh. There are always a lot of variables to consider.)

Whelp. I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. What can I say.

As I mentioned in a recent post, I’m starting small. The first three items listed on the rebooted site are teeny costume jewellery pieces.

Since we’ve just stepped into December, I went with a holiday theme and chose to list Christmassy items (brooches, either directly holiday-themed or simply colour-themed for the holidays).

It’s interesting … I have a real soft spot in my heart for vintage costume jewellery, but most of the time, I can’t wear it. I have a raging metal allergy, and generally, I can’t wear jewellery of any kind. It sucks. Even the backside of a grommet on my jeans can give me a horrific rash in less than an hour. But still, I buy jewellery. I just like to have it.

Even so, I’m far from a jewellery expert.

When I choose jewellery items for the store or for myself (because despite the fact that I shouldn’t wear any, on occasion I do, ignoring my better judgement and generally always suffering the consequences), as when I choose furniture or other housewares, I grab things because they appeal to me, never thinking about where I might wear them, or what their provenance is. And because I like quirky things and old things, I sometimes get lucky and land on items of real value. I also sometimes get some duds. The things I list for sale in the store, however, are not duds. I mean, their duds as in they’re “snazzy duds” but they’re not duds like lemons … this whole dud thing is getting away from me. I apologize. ANYWAY!

The brooches I’ve listed thus far can’t really be called items of “real value”. Each is a collector’s piece in its own way, but none of them are too precious to wear. That’s the beauty of costume jewellery.

Anyway, please check them out, and if you notice any glitches or issues with the site, please PLEASE let me know. If you are reading this, consider yourself my beta tester. I need you. Don’t let me down.

As I work to get products up for sale on my own site, interested buyers should feel free to shop Will and Bequeath on Etsy and Will and Bequeath on Poshmark. These platforms take a large percentage of the sale price, and charge various other feels to sellers as well. In the future, I hope to have all my stock available on my own site, but until then…
