Bike month in Vancouver
EVENT | This week marks the kick off of Bike Month in Vancouver.
Dubbed “You’ve Got the Power,” this annual celebration includes seminars, workshops and events for all ages.
Presented by Better Environmentally Sound Transportation (BEST), highlights include a number of events this Saturday, including REV! – a ride-an-electric-vehicle extravaganza featuring electric bikes; The Lantern Ride – a night ride along the seawall at Stanley Park; Ride to Pitt Meadows Day – a long ride ending with a barbecue; and Bicycle and Tricycle Family Day – where families can learn about bike safety and maintenance, fitting bike helmets, BMX tricks and more.
If you’re not ready to head out on wheels, Lugz Coffee House will be hosting a reading from the book Traffic Life: Passionate Tales and Exit Strategies on Friday night and Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) will be hosting free bike events, including talks and seminars all month long.
